DUCHENY, JLBC MEMBERS ANNOUNCE NEW LEGISLATIVE ANALYST: MAC TAYLOR WELCOMED TO KEY FISCAL POST

California Political Desk
Denise Moreno Ducheny, Chair of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee (JLBC), Assemblymember Roger Niello Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee and JLBC Members Senator Dennis Hollingsworth and Assemblymember Anna Caballero today announced that veteran budget analyst Mac Taylor has been selected to be the next Legislative Analyst for the California Legislature.

Taylor, a 30-year employee of the Legislative Analyst's Office, will assume the job on October 27, upon the October 24 retirement of the current Analyst Elizabeth G. Hill, who assumed the post in 1986. Taylor will be the fifth person to hold the post, since the office was established in 1941.

An exhaustive bipartisan, bicameral search came to a close yesterday with official action by the 16 Members of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee. A search committee included Ducheny, JLBC Vice Chair and Assembly Budget Committee Chairman John Laird, Senator Dennis Hollingsworth and Assembly Budget Committee Vice Chair Roger Niello. In action by the JLBC on October 20, Taylor was approved in a unanimous 16-0 vote.

There were many strong candidates who applied for this critical job. The Members were very impressed that several of the most qualified candidates had either been trained at the Legislative Analyst´s Office or were currently senior staff at the LAO. It´s a testament to the caliber of people who have chosen this exceedingly demanding public service role. We look forward to a continued strong relationship with the LAO, and their insightful, independent analysis and recommendations for fiscal policy for our State."

Senator Ducheny represents parts of San Diego and Riverside Counties and all of Imperial County.
